Saving Money (fuel, and the environment)
As the debate rages over the relative merits of petrol and diesel cars and vans, companies
are increasingly turning to a fuel far cheaper, and cleaner. The fuel? LPG, liquid petroleum
gas, "Calor Gas" to you and me!
The savings can be considerable, preliminary studies with one Statius client who have 20 vans
set the saving at £40,000 per year! As a "rule of thumb" the saving obtained is 33% of current
fuel costs, a saving obtained with virtually no difference in speed, acceleration or payload
performance. And these savings are set to escalate further as part of the government’s
commitment to cleaner fuels; as the duty on traditional fuels will continue to rise, conversely,
the duty on LPG was slashed in the last budget by 29% and is likely to fall further!
Finally, to make the conversion of vehicles even more attractive the government is offering
grants of up to 75% on the cost of conversion.
