Environmental Management
Rather a mouthful, but "The UK competent body for the EC Eco-Management and Audit Scheme"
was launched on April 10th by the Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS).
The scheme is designed to allow participant’s to demonstrate a proactive approach to
environmental management and it is available to manufacturing companies and local authorities
from that date. The scheme is fully complimentary to BS 7750, the British Standard’s
environmental Standard, and ‘7750 can be used to prepare yourself to register for EMAS.
The information provided to Statius to date has said that "Participation should enable
organisations to secure competitive advantage in the market place and financial benefits,
while also helping to improve relations with customers, investors, insurer’s, employees
and the media." Registered sites will also be able to use a special logo to promote the fact
that they comply.
If you would like copies of the guide provided at the time of the release please call Mark at
Statius or the competent body directly on 0171 276 3377, Cameron Clark is the man to speak to.
